I detest being called “Mommy.”
I strongly prefer “Mama”, and while I hope that some day that will transition to just “Ma”, I’m okay with “Mom”.
But I just can’t stand “Mommy”.
I realize that most mothers of young children are, in fact, Mommy. I get it. I just don’t like it. Of course, since most other mothers respond to Mommy, Dictator’s picked it up. AND since the kid has a keen ability to sense and exploit weakness, her favourite new game is to call me Mommy repeatedly, then giggle when I say, “I’m Mama!”
I guess I should just be glad that she’s not calling me something cruel like, say, “Dictator”.
